  • The Workers’ Council concept is to be introduced by the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration to promote productivity and efficiency in public institutions.

The United Left Front Government used this concept in the past to strengthen the CTB and other state institutions.

At a time when Sri Lanka has launched a massive development war under the Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekma programme this Workers’ Council concept will be launched to improve productivity and efficiency in state institutions by eliminating corruption and waste, improving employer-employee relations and obtaining worker participation in the management and decision making process.

This concept also has special features to help achieve institutional targets, follow up work and improv employee talents.

The Workers’ Council concept is being introduced to the ministry under the directions of Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara with the blessings of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration has organized a Special Seminar at the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research Institute, Colombo on August 8 at 9 a.m., to educate its employees on this Workers Council Concept.
